What is Telehealth
Art Therapy?
Telehealth Art Therapy is just like in-person art therapy, except you are logged into a telehealth session with your therapist while you make art. You can take part in a wide variety of art processes, depending on what art materials you have available. Telehealth Art Therapy also gives you opportunity to try making art digitally.

How do I participate in
Art Therapy during a Telehealth Session?
There are lots of ways you can make art when meeting virtually! We will discuss which art supplies you have access to at home. I know not everyone has art supplies and we can be creative with using non-traditional materials like paper scraps, items found in nature, torn clothes, worn kids books, etc. I may make recommendations for buying budget-friendly art supplies.
You may also use digital art therapy options through use of a collaborative white board where you can make art in real time on you computer while I watch and/or have the option to work on it with you.
How Do I Prepare for Telehealth Art Therapy?

-
Sit at a desk, table, or create make-shift flat surface to make art on. Some people like to improvise with clip boards, lap desks, card board boxes, bins, etc. to set up their space.
-
Ensure your table space has enough room for both art making and your device (computer/phone, etc.). This may require you to get inventive with arranging your space.

-
Gather art supplies before the session starts.

-
Get ready to create!

Making and Sharing Art on Telehealth

You may share your creative art process during your telehealth session, that is dependent upon technology capabilities and your comfort level. This might look like tilting your screen towards the table as you create, propping up a camera, holding the art up to the camera to be viewed. Your completed artwork may also be uploaded as a photograph or scanned into a message on your client portal. In cases where it’s not possible to view the art, I still hope for us to discuss your creative process and any thoughts and feelings that came up for you while you made it.
